So when a given determination is signified by a concrete term, such as ' rational ', such a term explicitly expresses that we have to do with 'concrescere' ( = growing together) : amalgamation (fusion) of the thing and its determination is expressed by such a concrete term. So in fact two entities are signified by a connotative term, one primarily so, the other secondarily, or (equivalently) one directly one indirectly (connotatively).
What is stipulated then is which of these two entities is primarily signified and which secondarily. In the present discussion we have stipulated that the thing having the determination is primarily signified, while the determination itself is secondarily signified (connoted, co-signified). But of course we could stipulate the other way around : The concrete term directly signifies the determination, while it connotes that which has this determination.
