It is important to eliminate a common misconception about the evolution of man (from other organisms). The theory of evolution does not assert that man has evolved from apes (for example the chimpansee) : Apes are apes. They went their own (evolutionary) way, that is, they have followed an evolutionary path different from that of humans. What evolutionary theory does assert is that recent man and recent apes have a common ancestor. And from here in both branches there was added a positive (in the sense of non-privative) 'differentia', not only so in humans.
