Methodically all is good as we do it, and the mass of results probably is mainly due to the differentiation into disciplines. How, indeed, would a science [of organisms] ever have come off the ground when performing on living organisms similar chemical experiments as were done by the great masters of chemistry ( Lavoisier, Liebig, Bayer, Wieland, etc.). However, the point of departure in biochemistry was the explanation of Life, and this central question may not be forgotten.
